I have been having these crazy headaches while here at the hospital and some prior too. Sunday was a doozy so they decided to have me get an MRI on my head Monday night. About an hour before going down to get that done I started to have some major contractions. I thought all would be fine but it turned out halfway through my MRI they got much worse. They checked me while on the MRI table but I was still not even dilated and I was only effaced to 40% so they finished with the exam and then sent me back upstairs and was on machines for most the rest of the night. I was having contractions about every 3 minutes so they gave me some morphine and some meds to stop the contractions which they were successful at doing a couple hours later.
Tuesday was just a normal day and then Wednesday morning around 5:00 AM they started again. They were coming every 2 to 3 minutes until about 11:00 AM. The doctors all came in and we decided a c-section would be the way of delivery. I was only 80% effaced and so it was determined that once I got to a 3 they would schedule the OR for me. The perinatologist tried to stay non-bias to my decision but it was pretty obvious she thought c-section was the wiser way to go. We were all ready to have our cute girls and then labor just stopped again. Everyone was completely surprised.
I am not gonna lie, this is starting to get really draining and I am sad to admit but I am now just ready to have them come. I had my second dose of steroids which finished yesterday and I am not sure I can keep going into labor and then stopping again.
Today, no progress. I have mixed feelings about this. They did an ultrasound this morning and the girls weigh 3 pounds 14 oz each give or take some oz.
That is the latest with the Smiths. :o)
The Smith's Grand Adventures
I finally gave in… I have started a blog. Now that my life has something worth writing about (my cute family, aka hubby) I figure I will now have things to post. And besides, instead of just talking to my co-workers, all of us in awe and continuously saying, “did that really just happen?” why not share the “yes that did just happen” with the rest of the world too. =o)

It's Official
I thought for sure I would be going home today... but it was decided that I will remain in the hospital until our cute little girls are born. That could be days or weeks at this point. It is hard not knowing but I guess that is what it is like then a person is pregnant with no problems as well.
Yesterday my neighbor here at the hospital delivered her twin boys at 29 weeks. I believe one was 2 pounds 15 oz and one was 2 pounds 11 oz. Rob and I took a tour of the NICU and saw the two little boys. They are so cute but so little and covered with tubes. It gave me a lot of motivation to keep my girls inside as long as possible.

The Hospital
So yesterday I went in for a NST and ended up being transported by ambulance to Utah Valley Hospital to get checked in. The doctors wanted to just monitor me for a few hours and see what happened to my blood pressure (I was diagnosed with mild preeclampsia at week 24) and blood work was doing. Turns out my blood pressure is still elevated and over night I started swelling quite a bit. So this morning I was planning on leaving.... but I am still here. They decided they want a 24 hour urine test and see those results before letting me leave.
The girls look fabulous! I am so happy about that!! My body is what is causing the problems. This Friday we will be 30 weeks. I am sure the girls will stay in until then but then it is kinda up in the air from there.

The Twins .. And So It Begins... :)
Having my gallbladder removed January 10th and having so many symptoms so pregnancy during that time, when I actually was pregnant it didn’t feel any different than before.
Rob and I were trying to get hospitalization insurance and so on the 12th of March I took a pregnancy test to prove that I was not yet pregnant. It came back negative of course.
But low and behold after being 3 days late and not being able to get an x-ray on my shoulder (the nurse asked me if I was pregnant and I hesitated because I was supposed to have started that day but had not. So no x-ray) I said “what the heck. All the online tests say I could be pregnant, so why not take another test.”
So March 21st I bought a pregnancy package with 3 in it and took it to Rob’s work. I took the test there and it came back POSITIVE!! I showed Rob and was so excited! I looked up due dates and was told by the internet that we are due November 25th!
I don’t feel pregnant so it is hard to imagine….
However, just this last weekend during Priesthood Session of General Conference I went to the bathroom before leaving for girls night and saw blood! I asked my mom if that was ok and she said let’s watch it and see.
We left and headed to Gardener Village but had to stop at a gas station because I could tell that I was still leaking and I was cramping quite a bit.
After walking around for about a half hour I was worn out and needed to sit so I went back to the car and waited for everyone else to be done.
When we got home Rob gave me a blessing and I went to bed. I pretty much lied around most of Sunday as well. At that point the bleeding had stopped. All in all I only bled about 2 tablespoons but was still cramping quite a bit.
Monday we already had a nurse appointment so when we went in she asked if we had seen Dr. Lind yet. Rob chaimed in “Nope but we were hoping to see him today”, and then told her about the weekend. She then left and came right back and had us go get an ultrasound.
The ultrasound tech was asking us questions and showed us our baby. She measured it and we could hear it’s little heart beat!! .. She then continued to look for what was the cause of bleeding. She stopped mid sentence and a few seconds and looked at the screen and then continued to talk. She then asked me if we had used anything to get pregnant. I replied with “well we got off the pill.” She then asked, “anything else?” I had no idea what she was getting at but responded “nope”.
She then moved around and said, “well here is your other yoke sac”… yes my friends, we are having twins!!! They couldn’t tell if they were identical or fraternal that day but both had cute little heart beats, beating at 117 per minute. We had to meet with more nurses and got my blood taken.
We pushed up our Dr. appointment from 2 weeks from that day to two days (Wednesday). The Dr. told us again (like every Dr.) that we are extremely high risk but that we have 80% chance of having them. He then did another ultra sound and confirmed that they are identical. This causes a lot more risk and possible complications but will be so rewarding in the end!

How Our Story Began...

In February Rob and I met at karaoke singing at Applebee’s in Orem through a mutual friend. Rob noticed me right away but once I got on that stand and sang Baby Got Back I had his undivided attention. Wendy (our mutual friend) mentioned to me a couple weeks later that Rob wanted to ask me out but I was kinda seeing someone at the time and brushed it off.
I started hanging out with Wendy and Rob’s crew more and more. On my birthday I was ditched by the guy I was “casually dating” and Wendy and Rob put together a party for me the day of!!
On June 25th I decided to invite the dashing young man to the Lehi Rodeo. And it is pretty much history from there. =o)
